Pool Marathon for Charity Starting at 9am on 17 September 2009, Matt Ford and Chris Marchant are attempting to break the Guinness World Record ™ for the longest pool match ever played. The current record is held by Brian Lilley and Daniel Maloney (both USA ), North Carolina , USA , and stands at 53hrs and 25mins, and they are looking to break that by 35 mins and hit the 54 hour mark. The event will be held within the Grafton Shopping Centre, Cambridge, England, for the duration of the attempt. Two pool tables are being supplied by local firm TableCare, one of which Chris and Matt will be using, and the other for a "beat the pro" style competition. Snooker professional Neil Robertson has agreed to attend, together with those from the local, county and international pool scene. They have managed to secure BBC Look East to cover the start and end of the event, and have a large media presence from local newspapers, magazines and radio stations, with Matt already having given two on air interviews! |
